The flat threshold of our City vault door

We were always asked about our City vault door, why a narrower bottom profile costs more than the standard profile. And what about the inlays in our floor, what do they look like? We would like to briefly address this in this article.
The City vault door always has a bolt engagement in the bottom profile, meaning that when the bolt locking mechanism is closed via the handle, a bolt also extends downwards from the door frame and engages with the bottom profile.
The height of the standard bottom profile is sufficient at 50mm for the bolt to extend far enough into it.
With the special 100x10mm profile, however, the bolt extends further, essentially coming out of the bottom profile again. To ensure proper bolt guidance, we create a bolt pocket under the bottom profile, which we then weld to the bottom profile from below. The two photos show the execution:


This entails additional time.
There is a special feature for vault doors that open outwards. Due to their design, these doors, unlike those that open inwards, run on hinge pivot rods that are firmly anchored in the frame profile at the top and bottom. In these cases, the hinge counter-bearing at the bottom is also fully guided in the frame profile, which is unproblematic with the standard 50mm high bottom profile. With the flat 10mm bottom profile, a pocket must also be made for the bearing here, which is also welded under the profile. This is what it looks like:

In the event that the vault door opens outwards, a recess must also be made in your floor for this bearing so that the bottom profile can lie flush with your floor.
The use of a flat bottom rail without sufficient recesses for the pocket(s) can lead to malfunctions and will always be contrary to the contract and result in an exclusion of liability.
This flat special profile is included in the certificate as a variant eligible for recertification, i.e., each such use must be individually assessed and documented by the manufacturer.
These necessities are therefore responsible for the additional cost.
