Installing the Vault Door: DIY Installation Guide:
GUNSHOME City Vault Door
Installing a door frame is generally a straightforward task that even DIY enthusiasts with basic craft skills can accomplish.
The most important principle: a screw connection is only as strong as the surrounding building material (i.e., your wall). Therefore, first check if the enclosed fastening material is suitable for your wall, and if necessary, obtain more suitable anchoring material for your wall.
You can find help at specialist retailers, e.g., HILTI or Würth.
Removing the door often facilitates installation. However, this option depends on the type of installation and the door's opening direction; in some cases, removing the door is not possible. For flat transition strips, recesses may need to be made in the floor area of the premises beforehand.
There are three conceivable installation methods:
- for installation from the outside in front of the wall:
Here, expansion plugs are supplied, which you first screw into the welded-in threaded sleeves. Now, position the door frame from the outside in front of the wall and align it. Then, at the positions of the expansion plugs, give the door frame a tap with a rubber hammer to get an impression of the expansion plug in the plaster. Remove the door frame and drill through the wall completely at the marked spots. Unscrew the expansion plugs and screw the threaded rods into the threaded sleeves, then re-position the door frame and guide the threaded rods through the wall holes. Now, carefully align the door in plumb and level* and securely fix the frame (wedges, clamps, etc.), and secure the threaded rods from the room side with washers and nuts. Threadlocker is better than excessive tightening of the nuts, which can lead to warping of the frame.
- for installation in the wall opening:
Position the door. Now, carefully align the door in plumb and level* and securely fix the frame (wedges, clamps, etc.). Now drill through the existing holes in the frame or mounting brackets into the masonry. Clean the drill hole and insert the suitable anchoring material according to the manufacturer's specifications and tighten the connections firmly, but do not overtighten.
- for installation from the room side against the wall:
Position the door. Now, carefully align the door in plumb and level* and securely fix the frame (wedges, clamps, etc.). Now drill through the existing holes in the frame or mounting brackets into the masonry. Clean the drill hole and insert the suitable anchoring material according to the manufacturer's specifications and tighten the connections firmly, but do not overtighten.
* The door and frame are precisely matched at the factory. Exercise particular care during alignment; if the alignment is incorrect, the door frame may warp, so that, even after some use, adjustments may become necessary by re-aligning and/or reworking the bolt pockets in the frame, without which the door cannot close properly.
We assume no liability for fit or necessary rework for warped frames due to faulty alignment.
Depending on the situation, you can now plaster around the frame, seal it with permanently elastic sealant, and carry out the final painting work.
These instructions are recommendations; we expressly assume no liability at this point, especially for incorrect installation and subsequent malfunctions.
